The Azusa Unified School District Board of Education meets Tuesday, Nov. 10 — closed session at 5 p.m., open session at 7 p.m. at the district office, 546 S. Citrus Ave. — and the largest item is ratification of a third amendment to the sale of the former Ellington Elementary site, 5034 N. Clydebank Ave. in Covina, to Covina Berc, LLC for $17,768,000, down from $20,018,000 in Oct. 2025. The sale, first agreed in Nov. 2024, would close by April 15, 2027, with extensions possible to Dec. 21, 2027 at $50,000 each.
An updated surplus-property timeline on the same agenda covers all four surplus sites, including the former Powell Elementary, cut to $24,000,000 with closing set for Dec. 18. The board will also hear a community-schools presentation, consider renewal of $4,630,928 in state preschool funding, and vote on withdrawing from the Schools Excess Liability Fund. The meeting is also available by teleconference via Zoom.
